Hi, thank you for visiting my website.
I’m JAY(je-i), an illustrator based in Japan mainly focusing on picture books, travel, and food.
Since leaving Korea, I’ve spent a few years in Chicago and Auckland during my early 20s, but I have mostly built my life in Japan over the past 20 years.
Professionally, I’ve managed creative processes for marketing, advertising, and design projects in Japan and overseas, which has made me comfortable with business languages and working with diverse teams. After working closely with designers and artists for a decade, I was slowly inspired to become an illustrator myself.
I see our lives as a collection of experiences layered together as we move through time and space that is unique to each one of us. We call it the “present,” and these moments are precious and irreplaceable once they pass. My illustrations aim to capture feelings of solace, rest, and warmth from everyday life, turning the most ordinary into special moments.
In my spare time, I love taking walks, listening to music, and having conversations with friends and family. I also frequently travel throughout Japan and East Asia, which brings me a lot of inspiration and energy for my creative process.
I am also raising three curious multicultural kids with my husband.

初めまして、ジェイと申します。
日本を拠点に、主に絵本、旅行、そして食べ物をテーマに活動するイラストレーターです。
高校卒業した直後来日し、シカゴやオークランドにも数年滞在しましたが、この20年間は主に日本で生活を築いてきました。
これまで、マーケティング、広告、デザインプロジェクトのクリエイティブプロセスを担当する中、国内外の多様なチームと協力し、名の知れたブランドとのプロジェクトにも携わる機会がありました。それらのプロジェクトでデザイナーやアーティストと長年密に働く中で、次第に自分自身もイラストレーターになりたいという気持ちが芽生えました。
私たちの人生は、時間と空間を通じて積み重ねられた経験の集合体だと感じています。それは「現在」と呼ばれ、一度過ぎ去ると二度と戻らない貴重でかけがえのない瞬間です。私のイラストは、日常の中で感じる安らぎ、休息、そして温もりを捉え、最も普通の瞬間を特別なものへと変えることを目指しています。
時間がある時は、家族や友人との会話を楽しみながらお散歩をするのが好きで、日本国内、台湾、韓国など主に東アジアを旅行することが多く、旅から得るインスピレーションとエネルギーは、私のクリエイティブな活動に大きく影響を与えています。
日頃イラストやブログを書くなど仕事をする以外は夫と好奇心旺盛な3人兄弟を育てています。
